  • Hey

I'm a long time guest reader but felt it time to sign and introduce myself and get involved.

I began reading for advice as I am very new to Cigars, having been introduced by a friend at a Rum and Cigar evening about a year ago. From then I've treated my self to a few as a light, social smoker and been given a few by the same friend building a real like.

I was in Edinburgh this weekend just gone and had some excellent advice from a great retailer on Rose Street picking up Hoyo Epicure Especial (wanted a No. 2 but they had sold out) and a Montecristo No. 1 both of which I really enjoyed, although the second was heavier it still had a subtle cream which I seem to enjoy and I did ask to pushed to a slighter heavier taste by the shop keeper.

I'm looking now to set up a Humidor over the next couple of months, probably around the 20 mark and get a couple maturing to see a difference. I like the thought of a collection too.

Anyway, thanks for the advice and hopefully thanks for the future chat and laughs.

    Cheers
    When life gives you Cigars...

This. I have two 20 ct humidors under my desk right now that haven't been touched other than as a small footrest. If you're going to bother with a 20ct humidor, just get tupperdore for 1/1 000 000th of the cost

Sounds like you have a nice grasp on what to smoke first. Let us know how you progress, and very nice to see you posting again!

        Welcome to the machine!

You could get a Tupperdor but it won't look lovely on display. Just look for a bargain on the bay like I did, I got a 100cnt Savineli for ?20 and looks gorgeous.

Though I did keep 2 tupperdors until recently...... unfortunately as great as they are I found them ugly so I kept them hidden.

                    Welcome to the forum.
If your only just starting out with cigars me personaly i'd go for a 25 count humidor rather than a bigger one , for the following reasons.

You may not enjoy the cigar smoking hobby, in which case you haven't spent much on a humidor plus they look nice compared to a tupperdore.
If on the other hand after a few months of trying different cigars your starting to enjoy the hobby, then either sell the small humidor to buy a bigger one
or just buy a bigger one, the above is just my opinion what i would do.

Haha! I dare you to name one person who, after the mandatory lurking time, joined this fine forum and ended up NOT enjoying the - how you say - "cigar smoking hobby?"

And if the young lad opts for the smaller unit, as you suggest, only to learn in a few weeks he needs a bigger box, who's the sucker that's gonna' buy it?. You? Me? I think not. Now perhaps some chump from that other forum, but nobody around these parts is gonna' want it because they know better!

Buuuuut I could be wrong, I guess...
