    Greetings and welcome aboard
My wife was similar - until I pointed out - If I'm going to have a midlife crisis, what would you prefer:
    Drink
    Drugs
    Women
    Fast Cars
    A combination of the above
    OR
    Cigars.
And now she's totally on board!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I live about 8 miles north of Newport. My wife's from Wales, but ironically she'd move back to London tomorrow and I'm pretty settled. One daughter, two cats, and feeling old and wise enough to go out and enjoy some of the finer things in life.

Honesty is most definitely the best policy, which is why I talked to my wife about my wanting to enjoy cigars and the delicate equilibrium is 'do what you like, but I don't want to know about it in any way, shape or form'. I think that pretty much rules out a relaxing smoke on balmy summer evenings in the garden, but since I spend a good part of the year working in London, I reckon I can enjoy it enough when I'm away.

So, let's say I want to ask for recommendations on cigar-friendly pubs in London, or more details on PeeJay's gazebo, do I start another thread?
Yep, unless you're adding to an existing live thread. I say live because it can be seen as bad etiquette to re-animate a three year old thread for example.

In London your best bet is mostly going to be specific cigar lounges and the well known retailers, oh and there are plenty of London based members here for you to meet up with!

Welcome aboard. I'm quite lucky, my other half apparently likes the smell, at least while I'm smoking them. Its the lingering she doesn't like.

                Welcome undercover.
Unfortunately my other half has never come around to them.
I too have to pick my timings. Sometimes it feels like Im cheating on my wife,
going behind her back with a cigar
Having one when shes out, having one when Im away

Brushing your teeth, mouth wash, a shower... all the basics help
                Welcome bud.

                        Hi and welcome

My wife hates the smell in the house and says all cigars "Smell like my Grandad", but years of persistent herfing outdoors at home has weakened her defences and now she just shrugs her shoulders

We just had some new wide opening patio doors fitted, so one evening when my mate was over late we opened them wide and herfed in the back of the lounge (this was a decision made after consuming a bottle of port and some whisky!). Panic struck the next morning, expecting all manner of grief, I wandered downstairs to find not even a faint whiff of stale smoke ..... the best money ever spent I reckon!

I think my wife is the shrug her shoulders type too, but it'll take time ... I've sowed the seed!

Anyhow, I'm freelance, so work wherever, but usefully I work with a small company at the bottom of Haymarket. I usually stay at an ex-/serving military club in Marble Arch. I'll be in town 2/3 September, so will check out the herfs. (Is there a difference between a herf and meet?)

Hello and welcome, I go for the 50% rule with my other half. Basically anything I purchase I tell her it cost 50% of what it actually cost. Much less grief
