Hi, I'm new to the forum. I currently live in Maidenhead and have been enjoying the odd cigar since New Years Eve. It started for me when I was at a friends house warming party last year and one of his new neighbours (possibly Cuban; he spoke no English) offered around Cuban cigars neatly displayed in a humidor (known to me at the time as a box!). I was tempted, as was another friend, but we were fairly drunk on punch and as non-smokers figured it would be a terrible idea. Anyway a few months later I decided to buy some on-line to try and so I ordered a 5 pack of Montecristo no. 4's from C.Gars Ltd. Unfortunately I smoked the first one on New Years Eve when fairly inebriated on a variety of single malts and honestly couldn't taste anything except tobacco until the last few inches which seemed very nice. Tar maybe? It laid me out. The second one I had three days later in the afternoon with freshly ground Italian coffee (It definitely helps to keep notes). It was sooo much better in fact each stick from the packet seemed to get better. I found hot chocolate to be a good accompanying drink. The pack lasted me three weeks and since then I've placed three more orders exploring other sticks. The monte's were probably too strong to start with so I've leaned toward milder sticks since then.
