  • back to smoking again.

    Good morning everyone.
I gave up smoking cigars about ten years ago - cheap 10 a day mini things which were more addictive than pleasurable to be honest.
A couple of weeks ago a sudden urge to try a nice cigar became an itch that had to be scratched.
I don't know if it was my brain or my body telling me to this but it resulted in me making the decision to start smoking cigars again - but only good cigars - ?- ?10 pounds each which for me constitutes a good cigar. No doubt I will progress to some of the more exotic/expensive brands and models in the fullness of time.
Ive settled on one cigar each day, late afternoon, G&T or Fresh coffee, (Cuban at the moment) or a nice glass of ale and I park myself in the garden and relax while watching the birds, enjoying the garden, or just thinking happy thoughts and I have to say its an hour that gives me tremendous pleasure.
I'm glad Ive gone back to the cigar again and I'll be hoping to gather knowledge, tips, and the benefits of your good-selves' aficionado level experience.
I now have a local supplier in Chester, Turmeaus, who've been most helpful and they're pretty near my coffee supplier as well
Next purchase in the cigar department has to be a good sharp cutter that delivers value for money and results.
Recommendations would be most welcome .
Thanks for having me and I look forward to getting to know you over the coming visits and hopefully meaningful contributions to the forum which I must say looks pretty good.
    Best regards

Welcome to the madhouse Talbot, most guys on here would probably recommend a Xikar or Colibri cutter. The cheap ones are okay in an emergency but you should look for something with two blades to avoid pinching when cutting.

Hi and welcome back to the world of cigars

I'm a Xikar fan but plenty of other people get on well with Colibri and Palio cutters.

Indeed, I'm sure our sponsor had a deal on Palios recently didn't they?

Welcome here, a good cutter is a must. I use a very cheap punch cutter for bigger ring cigars and a cheap guillotine for very big. I also have a nice old silver V cutter that only cuts up to about a 40 but is good for torps too. Have fun exploring the cigars.

Thanks all for you welcome and the feedback/advice on the cutters. Greatly appreciated.
I'll be looking at some over the weekend.

My afternoon cigar yesterday was a Punch Coronations Havana, which I enjoyed very much, accompanied by a lovely pot of Peruvian coffee.
                        Regards talbot

Welcome to the forum. The Palio cutters are pretty good and not to ruinously priced
