Dreams, Punta Cana. They are even cheaper from the beach vendors, and knowing what I know now I'd probably have bought a box from them just to smoke on the beach. I overheard an American guy say that aren't bad smokes. I just stupidly thought the beach vendors sold the fakes and the hotel would be selling the real deal!

I'll bear that in mind, I'm going to the Bahia Principe. Did you do any factory tours?

Why use a coil element at ?30 to light the briquettes? Just put it in a bowl and stick a blowtorch on it.....

It's what had been recommended sir, the blow torch approach had been considered though

Im just wondering what the benefit of having a purpose use hob ring just for briquettes is? Surely they just need lighting?

The deep bowl and wind covers look like bloody good ideas though! I will be investing in them for sure.

Has anyone used an apple bowl?

Peejay, didn't leave the resort, I'm a sit on the beach in the shade drinking rum kind of guy, lol!

ValeTudoGuy, coil burner is just so much easier. I can stick the coals on it and prep the shisha while they light, plus I've had coals burst using a blowtorch in the past and it's not an experience I wish to repeat! I use big coals (1hr+ burn time) and it lights them all the way through too, so no going out because they weren't quite done. I guess it's a pretty lazy way to do it but once you have one you can never go back.

Yeah, though I'm sure an apple could work.

Apple, orange, pineapple - they all work well. Not tried it personally but know a few people who have.

I will when I go to Cuba, definitely. When I went to Dom Rep I didn't have that much interest in it - if I went again now I probably would though.

You missed out then. Apparently in Cuba you can watch from behind glass but in the DR you're the other side of the roller's desk with a complimentary cigar. Anyone confirm that?
