  • Hello

Hello All, I joined recently and Simon Bolivar suggested I should introduce myself properly, so here goes.

I have recently restarted smoking cigars after a 10-12 year break. I used to work in town, and occasionally myself and a collegue would stroll down to a local cigar shop and buy a few roots. At that time we didn't really know much about the cigars available, so just used to buy whatever looked ok (I used to mostly choose smaller cigars, coronas, petit coronas and the like). Well as you can imagine it was a bit hit and miss :0)
I eventually found a few good regular smokes, mostly Hoyo coronas, Siglo IIIs and the odd Cohiba Robusto.

Well fast forward to now and I'm basically starting over again. My taste buds seem to have reset, and I can't take the Cohiba Robusto anymore, but I still like the Siglo III. I understand the Hoyo Corona has been discontinued, so I'm gradually working through the Hoyos trying to find another one that I like. I also quite like the ERdM Choix Supreme and the Monte Open Regata.

    Simon.

              Hi Simon,
Sounds an ineresting route to where you are today. We have had to get a used to alot of deletions since '02 in particular. If you do a serach you'll find some recent threads on htis issue. May I suggest Hoyo Epi No2or No1 if you're looking for a slightly larger smoke. I never found a Hoyo Corona so I can actually compare but these are tow of the best Hoyos IMHO.
For alternatives to the CORO, try RASS Ramone Allones Specially Selected,? a tasty smoke that's not too powerful, for those moments when you haven't so much time the RASSC (Small Club COronas) is an excellent smoke in it's own right.

                  Hello and welcome

Some great suggestions already for smaller smokes, I'l just add the Juan Lopez Petit Corona to the mix.

Also for a tiny stick the El Rey del Mundo Demi Tasse is easy going but packed full of character.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the suggestions. I just tried the Reyes this afternoon, and I must say I was very impressed. It was a very good smoke, especially for such a small stick. I've got the Hoyo Epi no1 resting in the humi, hopefully it will be better than the no2. I have already tried the no.2 but was not impressed. It was not a bad smoke, but I expected it to be better after having read a lot of good things about it. I will try it again if I can find one with a few years on it (as Simon B. suggested).

I'm not sure about the Ramone Allones, I have read a bit about them and was given the impression that they are quite a strong, powerful smoke, similar to the Partagas, is this not the case?
