Hello everyone!
My name is Wikus and I live in rural Northumberland. I found the forum through a google search when looking for information on humidors (which I'm still yet to purchase). I have read a few posts and enjoyed looking at the pics posted here, some very lucky guys! I have smoked cigars on and off for a few years now but only recently decided to go all out and put some money aside to enjoy some good quality cigars.
I read online about using empty boxes as a make shift humidor so I used a wooden box I already had for storing a few sticks, it works ok but I think I need to get the real thing to protect things I get from now on.
There are not many places to buy premium cigars from around these parts but I found a great place in Newcastle upon Tyne with a walk in humidor. The smell of the place drives me wild and my wife doesn't mind me smoking cigars every so often as long as I keep out of the way of the kids (which I find perfectly reasonable as we have a 7 month old girl and a four year old boy). I 'got into' smoking cigars via my grandfather (a pipe, and occasional cigar smoker of many years) and my father who smokes less frequently but understands the joys of a fine cigar.
I do not have many cigars (I am restraining myself until I have the proper equipment) but I have a Cohiba Robusto, a Punch Petit Coronation and two Romeo y Julieta Petit Churchills (all in tubes). I also have some cheap Henri Wintermans and some Mehari Cigarillos in a small box, however I'm not too fond of these last two and will write them off as experience.
I am looking forward to discussing this fine hobby with you all and I hope to make a pilgrimage to JJ Fox in London when I travel down there with my wife in a couple of weeks.
Thanks to all for creating such an engaging forum, I look forward to getting to know everyone!
