    Hey guys,

I was introduced by an old friend of mine a month ago and have really taken to the whole thing. I am still trying to sample as many cigars as possible to find out what suits me. I recently got a small humidor so looking to start stocking up a modest collection!!

I was thinking about trying the following sampler from cgars but mindful that I might get better experience from some well selected singles?

    Not a bad starter pack.
    I'd recommend for a newbie:

    Short 30-40 min smokes:
    - Partagas Short
    - Montecristo Junior Open
    - H.Upmann Half Corona

    40 min+
    - R&J Wide Churchill
    - Cohiba Behike
    - Trinidad Robusto T

    These are smokes I've enjoyed.

But yes - it's all about what YOU like.
Just bare in mind the smoking times of some cigars.
Some are short, others are much much more longer (an hour to an hour and a half or more!)

    Welcome and all the best.
    Simon

I reckon a big part of the pleasure when you're starting out is in the research, Rich; basing what you've enjoyed so far on your own selection of singles. You'll still qualify for free postage on your order if you aim for a similar purchase price, and get a sampler of Cubans that suit your palate...Enjoy!

        Hello & welcome

Trinidad Reyes are a good shorter smoke. Something from the Olivia V range would IMO be a good starter.

You do realise you'll get info overload, but half the fun is finding that one that tickles your fancy.

Aye, Welcome onbaord, enjoy the start of your smoking career, it'll give oyu highs you've never know & can't be regained in future, only repeated in a muted way.

Hey, thanks very much for the recommendations. I have a Montecristo Junior Open and a Punch Coronation which I will probably try this weekend and then will be on the hunt for more.

I think that I will take your advice and do some research into the singles and get a variety of them. The only issue I'm facing with research/reviews is that they reference tastes and other attributes that I can't really relate to yet. I think the only way around that is smoking as many varieties as possible!!

After reading reviews, you'll try the cigars and some of those reviews you'll agree with, whereas others you may not.
It really is about what you take to in the end. Which tastes you prefer. Mild smokes, maturer stronger smokes.
But yes - all will become clearer once you sample a few. Well... quite a few....
Just enjoy the whole experience my friend!

                  Welcome to the forum!

I agree that choosing out your own single is preferable to buying a sampler - at first just read review and recommendation and pick out the ones you think sound most interesting and gradually you'll get an idea and the vitolas/brands you'll like - personally I'd recommend looking into Por Larranaga Petit Corona, Fonseca KDT Cadete and Ramon Allones Specially Selected, there are of course many, many more and these are just what come to mind now 😊

welcome to the forum, every one will have there fav cigar to recomend,no short cuts to finding out what you like you will have to try one or two of each marca to find out what you like, the problem is just when you think you have worked out what you like your pallet changes

Hello there...that's a fine sampler for sure. My advice would be to start with the lightest cigar (RyJ or Upmann) and work up to the strongest (Boliver/Partagas) otherwise going straight to the Bolivar might overwhelm and put you off
                          Have fun!
