  • Hi Guys, new smoker

    Hello All...

I am new on the forum and a new cigar smoker...I have only ever smoked the occasional Cigar since stopping smoking cigarettes and never realized the whole industry and culture behind it, I thought "Hamlet" was Cigars....

I joined twitter and began strangely following Cigar tweeters, then while in Liverpool spotted Turmeaus but didn't want to go in and ask questions in case I looked like a Petit Tubos!!

Anyway, I got home, started looking around and for some reason bought a Montecristo Number 4 - Loved it..Then a few samplers at a Cigar shop near home I never knew existed....I had a Jose L Piedro, A Honduran called a "Royal Corona", A H.Upmann Corona Junior, A Villager Premium and a J Cortez orange...The Cortez, Villiger and JLP being my least favourite...

Then...I had a few more Monte 4 and decided to buy a box, then a Humidor....A cutter, and a lighter...Then some bits to make my shed comfy to smoke in!

I watched reviews, smoked, watched some more and really enjoyed Steve Griff!

My real CIGAR moment came a couple of weeks back with a RYJ No 3 - The taste, the flavours, the smoke....It all came together and I had my best smoke yet....

My uncle came to visit...And gave me a Cohibo Siglo VI - We smoked, and talked...I loved it! He then dropped me off a box as he decided to give up! Nice One....

Anyway, I wanted to say Hello, and share how I got into Cigars, Its great and I am really enjoying it...The forum looms good and I look forard to learning...And smoking...

    Good toking

Hey man welcome aboard I guess this means I'm not the FNG anymore haha.
Looks like you've been sticking to the Cubans mostly, I would highly recommend branching out into the NC lines because they're just as good if not better than Cubans and often don't require anywhere near as much aging.

I concur with your point on aging? Non-Cubans don't require any nor do they benefit from it, in my opinion.

It appears after some digging on the site, all is not well with my Cohibas....

The Cuban Government sticker / Hologram wasn't stuck to the box....But was inside, with the Cohiba sticker

The yellow ribbon has no writing, and it says Siglo VI on the box, all others I have saw say 25 Siglo VI...

              Perhaps a little suspicious?

But...The gold lettering and embossing is on the bands, and they loook and taste good, but then again my knowledge of what they should taste like counts for nothing!

                Hi and welcome.

From your description I am afraid to say these are 100% fake. If the stickers were in the box there is absolutely no doubt that these are not genuine Cohiba cuban cigars.

If it is of any comfort there are many, many fake cigars out there and many people who will swear bind they are genuine, they are not.

                Take a look here:

On the positive if they taste good to you smoke and enjoy

Thanks, I'm not that bothered that their fake, I kind of wondered why anyone would give me a box of ?600+ cigars!!

I wont smoke them though....But leave them to one side, and save for a real cabinet! When i have friends round, I will have MINE and they can have THOSE!

Just to be on the safe side I would advise keeping those seperately, even if it's just in a ziplock bag with a boveda pack or something. Wouldn't want a rogue beetle or something to trash the rest of your nice sticks.
