Hi Jarrod and welcome to the forum.

I've recently returned from a visit to 'down under', we have family in Melbourne and friends in Sydney.

I was there just as the new tobacco laws came in, pretty harsh to say the least!

Gone are the days when ruling politicians - throughout the civilised world - were happy to appear in public smoking a pipe, a cigar or a cigarette. No more. How wonderful political correctness is - driving everyone underground to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Aint progress grand !!!!!

G'day haven't been to Melbourne yet but I hear the dining out experience is incredible.
yeah at first I thought the new law was way outrageous but really all they have done from what I understand anyway is make all plain packaging so if you want to buy a "box" of cigars and the cigar company dosnt supply a plain box for Australian law then you just get the amount that would have been in the box in a airlock bag instead.
the cigars still have the brand ring on them there just temporary covered and cigar shops keep the boxes so they can give you one "as a friend"

The thing I hate the most is the duty we have to pay to import tobacco products, considering how cheap cigars are In the US it still isn't worth it.
The current duty rate for cigars, other Tobacco/Chewing Tobacco has a duty rate $436.13/kg of tobacco content and 10% GST.
