Thought i'd better come and hello. So hello to all.

I'm new to cigar pleasures but have a dark secret! I enjoy Swisher Sweet Cigars! I'm sort of getting the feeling that that isn't a good thing LOL.

Please don't shoot me down too much for my sin ;-)

Any recommends on a good Cuban Cigar for beginners? I have a nice bottle of 50yo Cognac from Saint-Emilion in France that i want to enjoy with one.

Thicker ring gauge you can't go wrong with a Partagas SDN4 or Hoyo du Monterrey Epicure No2, smaller ring gauge try a Ramon Allones Small Club Corona, Trinidad Reyes, Partagas 898.

Everyone has favourites so expect a lot of different suggestions, best thing is to just dive in, half the fun is working out yourself what you like and don't like.

Non Cuban, Nasty Cigar, Nicaraguan Cabbage, Nearly Choked etc. etc.
You'll get lots of suggestions on here for 'beginners smokes' from everyone. I mostly favour larger RG (ring gauge) cigars that I would not deem appropriate for a new palate, read the reviews section, there are several BOTL on here ie: TIPPEX, Monkey66, Smallclub who have a far better palate than I have & have more experience of the 'smaller stogies'.
This is not in anyway to say that big full bodied RG's is not the way you may wish to go but I missed a lot of pleasure in the last 35yrs by paying no attention to the 'babies' only in the last few years have I realised size isn't everything.....

PS. Is the Cognac from CDSE had a cracking Montifaud Extra from there..

Yes that looks like the shop. Spent about an hour tasting lots of different Cognac before i picked. What a fab place Saint Emilion is.

Don't listen to him - there are plenty of good NC's out there (but I draw the line at Swisher Sweets!) A good place to start for a new smoker would be the Fuente Short Story. It's quite mild but packed full of flavour for such a small stick.

I do, however, agree with Puff that bigger doesn't mean better. None of my top 10 smokes are more than a 50 RG. The Trinidad Reyes is one of my go-to smokes and perfect for a newbie IMO.
