  • Newbie from Belfast - Cohiba Esplendidos.

    Hi all,

My brother has just been given a box of Cohiba Esplendidos from some of the Cuban Olympic Team as a thank you for assisting them whilst they stayed within the Olympic village.

He has been working there as a volunteer and has been receiving a lot of free swag etc from the parting athletes.

As he doesn't really smoke he has offered these to me so I thought id get some input on the best way to store/smoke these etc from the people in the know.

    Thanks.

Hi mate welcome, first a warning Cohiba Esplendidos are The single most faked cigar on the planet so it might be worthwhile googling how to spot a fake.

On how to store them cheapest method would be to get a tuperware that is large enough to store them in. Then u need a hygrometer designed for cigars and a method of maintains the RH at 65-70%. Check out cgars.com or other cigar merchants for the last two.

Thanks for the info - ill have a look for the hygrometer but I assume they would be ok if kept in their box for a while?? Yes/no?

Not sure how the Cubans got on myself - will ask my brother when I see him.

              Regards.

I haven't bought a box of those before but alarm are ringing because there is no date code on the bottom and the labels are normally stuck on the box not loose inside. Also no hologram or bar code on the label

Edit - need to type quicker !

Hmm... Bands uneven and some twisted around. But the most obvious factor: no glass-topped box!
