  • Hello from Hampshire

    Hello all.
I am based on the South Coast, in Hampshire, roughly halfway between Southampton and Bournemouth.
Have been a cigar smoker for about 17 / 18 years in all but didn't smoke many over the past few years.
That however has all changed now and it is interesting to see the changes in the market in just a few years, definitely seems to have been a move to heavier ring gauges and lots of limited editions.
I especially like Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 1's and that has been my 'go to' smoke for many years and rarely disapoints.
My cigars tend to have a bit of age on them - I prefer them to have been in my humidor for 2 or 3 years at least.
I used to store most of my stash at a London cigar merchants but now prefer to keep control of conditions myself and this way I can enjoy them even when I am not smoking them!

In addition to cigars I am a very keen fly fisherman - in fact yesterday I enjoyed a Hoyo du Depute in the morning and a Serie P No. 2 in the afternoon whilst salmon fishing on the River Test - the cigars were alot more successful than the fishing exploits! I also play golf for my sins.

It would be great to get together for some herfing with any other members nearby, there are a few possible venues that could be good.

    Welcome.
smoking a Cuban cigar while fishing on the river Test on a sunny day in the spring has got to be one of the greatest pleasures known to man.

I fish at Broadlands (only on a carrier) but I always look over the Test with longing.

Enjoy your time here and lots of fishy cigar tales please!!!

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

Welcome. Sadly IV never tried fishing of any sort, defiantly something I would like to try in the near future. I don’t mind a few holes of golf myself. Though I never seem to find too many holes . Hope you enjoy the forum. Happy smoking

Thanks Nic, I fished at Broadlands many years ago and it is a beautiful stretch of water, definitely worthy of a fine cigar.
On Monday I spent about half an hour sititng on a bench, smoking a Hoyo du Depute and enjoying the river......
I will try to post a blog style update on the seasons fishing and cigars......
