Hi guys ,
just found this site after checking out some reviews and had a good read through. Anyways, ive recently been hit with the cigar bug and cant seem to get enough. This hobby seems to have consumed me , and thought id post a bit about my self on here and try to get some advise for the future.
So, im 35 know and have been smoking cigars on off for about 10 years or so. You would think id know a little about the subject, but the truth is ive always smoked my dads stash and he has only ever smoked the cohiba brand. He has always been gifted these and as a result has never even been to a cigar shop and as far as i know he doesnt even know that any other brands exist lol.
So i basically have smoked a whole bunch of siglo's and thats about as far as ive got. Until recently ive been mistreating and disrispecting the act of cigar smoking ( biting ends of, docking cigars half way etc.. ) and basically failing to realise the rewards that come with this hobby.
Its been about 3 months now since i snagged a siglo 1 and sat at home and smoked one alone ( might i add for the first time) and had a chance to really appreciate the cigar. That short break was one one of the best experiences i've had in a long time. No wife, no kids even the dogs ran of and hid . Since then i decided to broaden my range and try to explore what other wonderfull cigars the world had to offer. So off i popped to cgars branch in West Hampstead , where the clerk helped me pick out a few cigars and and talked me into buying a humidor to store them ( told myself i wouldnt , but then convinced my self, damn)
Cohiba Maduro 5 Secretos cigars - 1s
Hoyo Short Hoyo Piramides - Limited Edition 2011 -1s
Montecristo No. 4 cigars - 1s
Montecristo No. 5 cigars - 1s - earthy woody smoke ,tightish draw, smooth and silky tasting
H.Upmann Half Corona - 1s -
Got through these and enjoyed them all except the half corona. It made me feel a bit sick and had a strange taste to it ( Not sure if thats right but, after I lit it , I immediatly wanted to put it down ). So now im on a mission to explore as many cigars as i can afford and after sifting through countless pages my next selection will be this :
Trinidad Reyes cigars - 1
Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 1 cigars - 1s
El Rey del Mundo Petit Coronas cigars - 1s
Por Larranaga Petit Coronas cigars - 1
Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2 cigars -1s
Montecristo Petit Edmundo cigars - 1s
I have no preference for size , but with 4 kids, 2 dogs and a wife , its hard to get 2 hours alone, so small formats give me enough time to enjoy them. Still like to keep a few biggies in the humidor for when i have the time , and also to experiment with aged cigars as ive heard so many good things about them.
So i rambled enough. My journey starts now and am really looking forward to it and hope to make many posts in this forum. Thanks for listening guys.
