  • Hey guys

    Just a brief one,

my name is Manning, I am from London and I am planning to go to Cuba around December (long way off!). Thinking about all things cuban has led me to the cigar forum, where i am quickly becoming obsessed with the idea of smoking a cigar although i am yet to do so. Will be sure to rack your brains on deciding my first one.

    Regards Manning.

hi Manning, and welcome, a good idea would be to get along to one of the Tobacconists in London who have a "sampling room" for your first Cuban, they can put you right on all things Cigar.

If you don't dive or snorkel, then do some before you go. The water is fantastic and it'll make sure you're comfortable when you get there. Also take your own mask / snorkel as the ones out there you can borrow are a little ropey and may not fit.

You will love it. And x2 on the london sampling lounges.

Don't mail order, but go into a shop to try a mask for fit / seal. And just get a cheap snorkel.

We went to havana, trinidad and varadaro. Snorkeled off of an island near trinidad and off the beach in varedaro.

                    Hi Manning

                    Welcome to the Forum.

I stayed near Guadalavarca in 2010 and we went on an overnight trip to Havana. It was a flight which was a bit dodgy on the return leg but the trip overall was superb.

I loved Cuba so much we went back in 2011 to try a different resort.

Buy your cigars from the right places, not in the street. Lots of people will tell you about pitfalls of cigar buying in Cuba but if you stick to Habanos you'll be OK. Most Hotels have a half decent cigar shop.

Remember - There's no such thing as a cheap Cohiba. Though in Cuba they are a lot cheaper than they are here.

                    Enjoy.
                    John

Welcome. I can still remember how happy I was after smoking my first proper cigar. Get stuck in!

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.
