  • Hello from Cardiff

    Hello cigar Forumites!

My name's Nathan and I've popped around to say hello and basically thank you for the wealth of information you have in your archives!

I have been smoking cigars for about 12 months now and recently bought myself a small humidor so that I can keep a selection. I came across UKCF because my humidor bacame very mouldy today! My humidifier had managed to mould up along with part of my humidor. Luckily, as I'm new to all this and check my cigars regularly, I noticed quickly enough to whip out my cigars (now in plastic zip bags) and have cleaned my humi with alcohol (don't worry, i didn't use my Talisker distillers edition :O). It's sitting out now, ready for a replacement humidifier (going with the silica beads i think) and soon to be purchased digital hydrometer.

The cigars I nearly killed are:

    Bolivar Royal Corona
    RyJ Wide Churchill
    LFdC petit robusto
    4 Montechristo No. 4
and a Berta Corzo Thorpe Hand rolled special.

Phew! Glad I caught it pretty early on!

About me? I 'found' cigars following a trip to Cuba many years ago, have quite expensive taste having tried and adored the Cohiba Behike 52 and Siglo VI the week before last at a 'Rum, Pipe and Cigar' night run at a local bar, as sponsored by our local cigar shop here The Bear Shop, where Berta Corzo Thorpe was rolling all night long.

Most of the above cigars I have yet to try, and i don't know very much yet, but I have tried among a few others, some very fine Cohibas, RyJs, Montechristos and Partagas of varying sizes. the only Cuban cigar I've tried that I overtly hated was the Montechristo Open Master. didn't work for me at all!

Anyway! That's me in a nutshell!

    Hello again!!

Thanks both, I had to try out one of those LFdC considering all of the noise around them at the mo, looking forward to enjoying it although the Bolivar is next on the list I think my local tobacconist has suggested that my Cohiba robusto soft spot should be pleasently satisfied by it!

I hope to continue posting along with some pics soon too as I buy and try my way through some recommended smokes

Hey Nathan, welcome to the forum, that's the best way to start, just trying as many different smokes as you can to discover what you like, look forward to your input!

              Hi Nathan, welcome along.

As Gary says, keep on trying different brands as a taste for Behikes and Siglo VI's could give your credit card some serious hammering!!

Hi Dave! The Gwdihw bash was immense! We stayed until the bitter end . Facebook friend requested. I'm really looking forward to that Bolivar, it was highly recommended by Peresh.I'm not strictly a Cardiff boy, coming from Treforest in Pontypridd but I might as well be as I work there play there and socialise there. And my monthly train ticket makes the city very close for me!
