I'm just down the road in Wakefield and a relative newbie myself.

A Humidor of some sort is a must. If you don't want to spend a lot of money on one, look up tupperdore, basically just a tupperware with a good seal, Hygrometer and something to keep the humidity at around 65-70%

Humijars [basically a presevation jar will do, I use a le parfait jar as an 'overflow' from my porper humidor, to store my cheap cigars]

Basically, If your just starting out and dont need to store that many cigars a 3ltr le parfait jar is pretty good, you can get one for about ?9 off ebay etc and not only are the perfect for my cheaper sticks, but it looks pretty good too [better than tupperware anyway, if appearence is something your interested in?]

Any of the above will do the job to a slightly greater or lesser degree... just depends what you want to achive and what you want to spend really.

My simple advice would be that samplers are a good way of trying a few brands, REs and LEs and so on (specialy edition type stuff) are great to try but don't expect them to be a trustworthy representation of that brand as they're often quite different from the standard lines, and as well as samplers it's worth getting some 3/5 packs or even a box of something you find you like as trying the same cigar over time will give you an idea of the variation you can get, even in the same box, and especially over time, months can make a difference let alone years.

Best tip I can give anyone starting out is light your cigar evenly, try not to inhale and smoke slowly

Sorry, been away from site for a few days (there's a blog about why) so didn't see your reply.

A meet up would be interesting, I can find a decent pub with an outside area for a smoke if you fancy.
