  • New - with a question!

    Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and also new to the world of cigars. I wonder if any of you can help me with a question.

I own a cedar wood cigar cabinet, which I believe was used to ship cigars to the UK in the early 1900s. The trouble is, the doors are too faded to read the brand, although I assume it to be Cuban. Has anyone seen one of these before, and if so, could you give me some more information please?

    Many thanks in advance!

    J.

Hi all, and thanks for your messages.

Puff Scotty, was there any info in that Ebay listing? I'm still at a loss, although will contact Nic Wing as CIV suggests - thanks!

Could you do a rubbing of the brand mark? like we used to do in school on gravestones? you take a sheet of paper and a piece of crayon or chalk or something and hold the paper over the brand, rub it with the long side of your nursery writing device of choice and the brand should transpose onto the paper as long as it is deep enough.

you could also put talcum powder on the panel while it's laying on its back and then use something quite soft like a credit card to remove the excess, leaving the remaining talc in the brand, which will show up white.

Once you know the brand, you should have much more luck identifying it
