I seem to remember somebody wearing a cravat, couldn't have been a northerner...

Huge hand for whoever wore a cravat! That is a bold look, not for the weak of heart! This looks like it's got loads of potential, depending on a few more details I'll definitely be there.

Subject to final confirmation but the party looks like being the launch party for the 2010 Regional Edition, Flor de Cano.

I hear a rumour that if you bring a whippet and wear a cravat you might get two (keep it under your flat cap though)

I have just noticed that full details of the cigars, times and prices of the summer party have just been posted on the Hunters and Frankau web site.
          Check it out: http://cigars.co.uk/news/hunters-fra...er-cigar-party

              A dilema.

I quite fancy attending this years H.&F. 'shindig' (particularly given last years excellent Behike launch), however, I find myself somewhat conflicted over whether or not this particular event represents value for money...
(Perhaps it's my 'Yorkshire' DNA reasserting itself)

I know the tickets for the 'Behike' launch were more expensive (?150 as opposed to ?90)... but at that event, three (high priced) Behike's were on offer (Five, if you got your ticket via 'The Man' - Mitch), also, a Rey del Mundo Choix de L'Epoque... and whatever Krug champagne/Hennessy XO was left after 'T' had been at it.

When I compare it to this years 'do', I confess to feeling a little underwhelmed.
Looking at the details, I see the main cigar being 'showcased' is the UK RE 'Flor de Cano Short Robusto' ('Who cares'?) and, a Partagas Serie E No. 2 (Now we're getting somewhere).
I know our little 'Hobby' isn't cheap at the best of times, but I can't help feeling (given the number of interesting new releases this year), that a trick has been missed.
(I'd pay more if the cigar choice was a little more inspiring)

What does everyone else think, am I just being a 'skin-flint'?

I was thinking the same. Does not look good value at all for a two hour event and a couple of regular sticks. I wonder if Mitch has something up his sleeve?

                  Chaps,

I'm not directly involved in organising this event but my understanding is that there will be two of each of the named cigars rather than one and that Pol Roger has recently been confirmed as one of the drinks partners, with more to follow. I'll keep you up to date with all details as and when they are confirmed but I would urge you to compare the evening to previous Summer Cigar Parties rather than the unique Behike Launch party last year.

                  Cheers,

Right, if Pol Roger's the drinks partner then I am definitely there! It may be a third of the price of last year's Krug, but I prefer it...

Now if they were going to throw in a Monte 2 Reserva that would be a good deal

                          +1

Assuming these 'cheap-skate' H. & F. chappies won't run to a drop of Dom Perignon of course?
(Next year please... just stick it on the ticket. Ta)

                              Hmmm.....choices choices.......
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock!"

I hope to shave off the sideburns, put away my clogs and turn my cloth cap back to front before heading down to this one.
