  • Cgars Tasting Event at St. James 12th December

    Hi Guys
My mate and I are booked to do this sampling evening at Cgars at St James on 12th December. Its £60 for the event and you get a Ramon Allones Superiores and a Teeling whisky as part of the ticket. Anybody else going or fancy going? We will probably make an afternoon of it and pop into JJs beforehand.

Let me know if anyone is about.

    Alan

Just checking with my diary keeper 😉, if given the all clear, I come up in the afternoon & join you in J.J.'s.

Enjoy. Mitch puts on a relaxed event. Not going to any more events this year. Will keep an eye out for anything more .. different coming up.

Too expensive and too dressy for me.

Had a very good evening. Good to meet Simon again. The ramon allones was a bit too fresh i think, but cant fault the quality and volume of whisky for the ticket price.

I had a rather splendid day in the City. Been a while since I had a smoking day around my haunts. So many changes.

Started off at Rolex HQ, putting in my watch for repair & service, hoping the estimate proves accurate.

Met up with Aberdonian Herf buddy & birthday boy Euan, (who some of you may remember from the Guildford herf, couple of yrs ago. We took brunch at the Green Cafe, opposite Boisdales, which set us up nicely.

On the Boisdales terrace there was surprisingly alot of space, whilst the restaurant was pack with Christmas work events.

We started with a pair of R&J Anejados 2008 Piramides, which was a fine starter, matched with a pint of golden ale. We made a new Finnish friend, who smoked two CORO's. Which I believe he said was £150, each.

Later, we had a pair of Punch Mantua's 2018, much stronger & were paired with a 'few' Negroni's. Then an old friend just walked in, Julian & we invited him to join us. A splendid time was had by all.

On to Cgars for the tasting @18:00. My first visit there. Was busy to start with but managed to get last seat. Turned out tasting wasn't to start until 19:00 so tried a Nicaraguan Mitchello. Not unpleasant but hasn't converted me to N.C.'s!

The RA Superiors was fine, stronger than my previous smokes that day so came through nicely, fresh of course.

The Teelings rep was very keen & animated. I e joyed the 46%, 50% not for me.

I was first to leave, so I could walk back to W/Loo. Train before & after was cancelled, so jammed packed, waste of money paying for 1st class, as a treat, as I didn't get a seat going up & although I did going back, full of drunk parties & even a fight broke out, which delayed us & crept in half later than planned.
                            Adding more pic's

Great write up. What Rolex do you have that you put in for repair/service?
