So to confirm, it's 12 noon at Boisdales, Canary Wharf? Bearing in mind the forecast of 30+ is there any shade? Also can we smoke our own and is there a minimum spend? Although coming by train I do have to drive to and from the station so will be restricted to one drink.

Boisdales has shade. I can’t make 12 as I am on a Night Shift on Friday, don’t finish until 06:00 Saturday. But if your planning on being there all afternoon I’ll look to join you about 4ish.

Some rather bad news. I've never been to Boisdales and have just found out they don't open till 5pm on Saturdays... I called to confirm too.

So, in a last minute fix should we try the Hippodrome in Leicester Square or we could do JJ Fox and the bar across the road.

In reality you gents could meet at JJ Fox and see where the afternoon takes you? The Hippodrome is only a 5 minute walk away.

Indoors at Fox will be very hot; don't fancy it myself. The Stafford Hotel opposite is a bit pricey if you're there for any time and the courtyard should be cool but might trap the heat. From the pics, it looks like the Hippodrome has a roof terrace. There's also a place that people have mentioned before - I think it's a hotel between Whitehall and the embankment; ring any bells?

It looks from their website that you can't book at table at the Hippodrome roof terrace until 14.00 (I can't confirm this as their phone goes to voice mail).

Corinthia hotel has a really nice outdoor lounge where you can smoke your own. Haven’t been in about 3 years so maybe check if it’s still the same rules.
