  • La Casa Teddington 29th July 2010

Just got back from a lovely escape at the ever welcoming La Casa, left poor Mrs M alone with the crying little blessing.

AJ was his usual excellent self and got to catch up with old and new friends. Look forward to hearing the accounts of a few of our BOTL's who popped their Phonecios cherry tonight.

I had on good and one great smoke.

BOLIVAR Libertador 2007: this was a very nice smoke, sublime size, mine had an easy draw, started off as a nice big Boli and really picked up at the end. Very enjoyable but in no hurry to seek out another (as a premium priced stick).

R and J Romeo from the 2008 Ancient Replica Humidor: This was the best R and J I have ever smoked. Just imagine a perfect R and J profile, lots of smoke and then the last third develops with cream, velvet body and spice. Perfect ash, only 3 pieces end to end ...burnt my fingers on this one.

I would give this smoke a 94-95 and recommend it to anyone who gets a chance to smoke it.

That R&J looks lovely monkey, and sits snuggly in the corner of that ashtray!

Was it expensive, if you don't mind me asking?

It was ?37 which is very expensive but OK for a top, rare cigar IMHO.

It was a good evening, nice to catch up with a few people, Aj was brilliant as usual.

Smoked a beautiful Ramon Allones Phoenicio 30th anniversary , WOW it was strong.

Looking forward to the next one.
?I have to laugh when I think of the first cigar, because it was probably just a bunch of rolled up tobacco leaves?

Smoked a Ramon Allones Phoenicio with jpmoore and it is up there with the Monte Sublime as the best cigar i have had so far. While the Monte is consistent the Ramon Allones Phoenicio starts off deceptively mild, smooth and complex then half way through builds into a powerhouse of unbelievable proportions yet keeping it's smoothness and flavours without becoming harsh. I'm glad i had smoked it on a full stomach.

My first visit to Ajay's and hopefully not my last. The smoking lounge is fantastic, by far the best i have ever been in so far and the company was great. Now i just have to work out public transport arrangements and find a nice Cuban bottle to take along.
