I was going to add this post to the Saturday 10th thread but it involved several forum members and some good smokes so I will start a dedicated thread.
On Saturday just past several of us dropped into Teddington for a smoke. I had been haranging Lascaux to come down for ages and this was to be his first visit. MB55317 was down for his usual Saturday visit. Jimmeh and I made our way down after a Friday night smoking session. I had hoped that Deano, SeanP and Habanoy would be joining us but that did not happen.
Upon arrival I had a yearning for a Monteristo Sublime but changed my mind when I remember how variable I have found this cigar. When it is good it is bloody good, but too often I have been let down. Ajay told me he had a cabinet of 2003 Punch Royal Selection No.11 delivered yesterday and that he had immediately smoked one himself. I elected to smoke this. It was only my second, my first experience being the last stick from the previous 2003 cabinet. I had smoked this at home and been blown away by how good it was. Jimmeh elected to smoke the Partagas Salomon. He and I have been meaning to try the Partagas Presidentes for ages but every time we do he is distracted by the larger size of the Salomon. They are similarly priced but the Presidentes that Ajay stocks have some years on them, he says it's only worth smoking with some age on the stick and then it is a great smoke.
We relocated to downstairs and started our smokes. Usual chat, blah blah. I enjoyed my Punch but not as much as the previous one. I put this down to my mood and so I will give another a go. At first Jimmeh thought his Salomon was plugged and for once I agreed but with a little attention it opened up nicely and he enjoyed it without loving it. I maintain this is a mediocre cigar.
As we neared the point of selecting a second smoke our Italian friend arrived. He had caught the train down from London and been slightly held up. It was his second visit to Teddington and third smoke with Ajay. He chose to smoke the Vegas Robaina Maestros, a RE from 2007 for Spain. I loved this cigar when I smoked it and was glad to have him give a second opinion as others on here did not care for it at all. Jimmeh chose the Roman Allones Grandes, a Spanish RE. I did not know what to smoke, so one of the Teddington members had a chat with me and then Ajay agreed for me to take the plunge. I ended up smoking the San Crist?bal O?Reilly, the cigar from the 2009 San Crist?bal Book, a double robusto. Now as many of you will know the cigars from the annual books are as rare as rocking horse poo. There are some "biblical" cigars I yearn to smoke. The 35th Anniversary Cohiba A, the Montecristo Maravillas from the 2005 book and the Montecristo B, to name just a few. The Maravillas from the book is probably top of the list, I just desire this cigar so badly. Well the San Crist?bal O?Reilly was as close as I was going to get on this day and it is my first cigar from a book.
GREAT cigar, big but not monstrous. I had been told it would be a power house of a smoke which struck me as odd as I have always found San Crist?bal to be mild-medium. Well the O?Reilly is just flavour. Lots of lovely light flavours that are well balanced and build slowly but it never get more the medium to my palette. Dreamy relaxing smoke. At the price it was it certainly is not something you can think of smoking regularly but to have a few to hand would be a joy.
Finally Lascaux arrived and jumped straight into things with the Partagas Salomon. He loved Teddington and looks very likely to join but as a first timer he did not yet have access to all the hidden treasures, LOL.
Out Italian friend had smoked his Vegas Robaina and sadly had to make a move back to London but this plan was about to change. He spent about an hour talking to Ajay, then went completely mad and purchased a fist full of cigars. Earth shatteringly rare and special cigars. Look at the picture below, trust me, if you think you know what those cigars are, you are probably wrong.
After taking in the vision of what our friend had purchased and seeing him off we continued our smokes. We smoked later than usual chewing the fat and everybody taking the piss out of me once again. MB55317 had to leave but Jimmeh, myself, Lascaux and a regular Teddington memeber and friend of ours joined us at a very good pub across the road to continue smoking.
I had a couple a Oliva O and a GAR. Jimmeh had a Vegas Robaina Clasico and Partagas Serie D No.4. Lascaux, well, he had purchased a new pipe from Ajay and so smoked that....
The pipe is very "him". The visage of Jesus with a pipe is something we are all going to have to get used to.
Again, a good time had by all and some serious cigars purchased and some even smoked!
A question to any readers. I have done a few of these mini-herf reports, with some pictures and la ot of waffle. Do you like them or should I just limit myself to what is smoked back in the daily smoking threads? Are they of any interest to anybody who was not there? Just a thought.

seeing as Teddington is right around the corner....
I enjoy posts like this. I dont think I've ever smoked anything outside of my back garden alone, so its a nice change!
