Well back now and recovering from the Gibraltar cigar dinner last Friday.
Arrived in Gib on Thursday and met Snooky at the Rock Hotel where we grabbed a taxi and got down to Stagnetto in the town to stock up on smokes for the day
Smoked quite a few during the evening but better was to come the next day. We walked down to Stagnetto at around 11am and garbbed a few smokes and sat opposite at the coffee bar soaking up the sun and the smokes ranging from Romeo Dukes to Montecristo Sublimes, right through to RA Gigantes which were awesome smokes. Mitch and his crew turned up after lunch shortly followed by Deano and we smoked a few more and chatted about the prospect of the coming dinner.
We all met at the Waterfront restaurant at around 8 and started with a 1958 Jamaican puro accompanied by Mojitos before sitting down to the first course of the meal. This was chased quickly by a Bolivar LE short pyramid and the main course, a beef and pastry dish. The third cigar we smoked was an excellent Montecristo C before we moved onto the sweet course, a New york cheesecake. Final cigar to round the evening off was an superb Partagas serie D1. We had constant supplies of red and white wine during the meal and were then given a bottle per table of Balblair whisky, one from 1978, one from 1990 and one from 1997...three full bottles for every ten guests This was followed by Edmundo Dantes rum and sherries for the ladies as well and we finally left the restaurant at around 1.20am to reconvene on the Wisteria Terrace at The Rock Hotel for more drinks and cigars until around 3am
The weekend carried on with more smoking through Saturday and Sunday so all in all a cracking weekend of serious herfing and a great chance to meet old friends and new. Good to herf with you Deano and Snooky and always good to see Mitch, Zaffy and the crew.
Photos are up on an album on my profile for those who would like to see what they missed...we are planning the next one for end of November/beginning of December so get your names in quick guys
