[MENTION=13491885]geoffbot[/MENTION] is organising a Zoom herf this evening (see Guildford Spring Meet Up or Teddington or Windsor ) around the aborted (real life) Guildford herf we 'Surrey herfers' had set-up for around now.
I thought, if there idea of future ones of these appealed, it would be worth having a separate threat and the idea of a 'rolling herf', ie rolling through an evening. My suggestion is this:
Because different times may suit different people (for example, 5.00 is a bit early for me), how about having a 'rolling herf' where someone organises the Zoom meeting number and passcode and then announces a start time (could be 5/6.00, say), but people can then drop in and out as its suits them. We could, by consensus, have a regular 'club evening' on a chosen day and/or ad hoc herfs or herfs on other days which could be organised under individual threads within the herf section of the forum to avoid confusion.
We'd have to see how it works on numbers; I'm assuming there will come a point when there are too many pictures on the screen, but I may be wrong about that and would welcome more informed comment. Personally, I'd like to see it as a 'drop in thing', but if capacity is an issue, then we could have a list like for cigar of the month. In fact, not impossible to link one herf a month to cigar of the month, with us all tryng the stick at the same time?
