I've only been to the Tup once, but the outside area turns around behind the main pub building and there are a couple of quieter tables alongside the fence with the building next door, if that works for people.
So we?ve got six, I?ll reserve a couple of table for 8 and ask for the area under the marquee in case the weather is shite. I can always ask to move the reservation into the sunshine a few days before if it?s looking good.
Provisional Programme, subject to change if better ideas are suggested....
Meet at The Tup in Guildford 44-46 Chertsey Street (http://www.theguildfordtup.com/index) at 12.00pm. Tables booked for 8 persons within the marquee (this can be moved outside if the weather is fine to the tables Grumpybaldy suggested).
Agenda whilst there would be to start off with a pre-lunch smoke followed by the obligatory pub lunch (burgers, pies, (insert meat based product here) etc). We could go for a romantic walk together but I?m sure you all know the delights of Guildford and I?m not what you would call a good tour guide other than where the other pubs are.
If there is a preference to do something after an enormous lunch, other than more beer/spirits/wine etc and cigars then let me know, the Castle isn?t far to walk. Neither is the best kebab shop for miles....
It also appears that the 9th June is the England vs South Africa Rugby match and given this is a rugby pub, it will be broadcast at 4.00pm. I?ve been assured however they don?t think it will be a busy affair but if a tour of Guildford is required seating can not be guaranteed on our return.
End time is whenever really, hall pass has been granted.
Parking is plentiful but not what you?d call enjoyable in Guildford with its one way systems etc. Castle Street has a large car park but York Road Car Park May be the best shot being a little further away from the main high street itself (and closer to the pub).
Guildford train station is a 15min walk from the pub and if anyone needs a chaperone, I walk past the station on my way into town anyway so I?m available to fulfil this role.
