  • Cotswold Cigar Club

Just thought I'd pop a little post on here.

Next Wednesday (24th Sept), a group of use will be convening at the Bell pub in Sapperton (just outside Cirencester). It will be the inaugural meeting of the Cotswold Cigar Club - a little scheme that my landlord and I have been cooking up over the last month or so. Essentially, as the name would suggest, a chance for cigar smokers in or around the Cotswolds to get together and herf.

A few of us shall arrive early for a bite to eat around 7ish - the food is delicious. Then the herfing shall commence around 8pm. They have a courtyard which we're taking over for the evening - mostly covered, with heaters etc. Should be jolly nice. It's a BYOC type affair. We're hoping to have a guest speaker for the evening too.

I'm popping in tomorrow to finalise the details, and hopefully we'll get a couple of offers for those coming along, and we'll have a special cocktail designed to go with a good cigar (plus a mocktail equivalent for those who are driving).

We'd love anyone in the area to join us - it's within easy striking distance of Cheltenham, Gloucester, and Swindon; and not too bad if you're Bath/Bristol/Malmesbury/Oxford sort of areas. The idea is that it becomes a monthly thing, probably based mostly around Ciren, but with occasional 'away days' (up towards Cheltenham/Stow, across Oxford way, or down towards Bath).

Not a million miles away from me... Any nights up towards Oxford and maybe Stow would be even better! I might struggle with next Wednesday but I'm definitely interested in the future gatherings!

Had a jolly nice evening. Just the four of us this time, but very merry. Next one will be late October - I'll pop something on here for those who may be in the area.

One result is that I've dusted off the old cigar shop plans from when I was in Plymouth. The gallery owner in my building and I are planning for a little shop - mostly so we have an indoor spot for winter meetings of the club! The owner of our building - who was also at the herf - just happens to have a small unit in a courtyard going spare. Haha...
