  • Herf you any suggestions?

My old man wants to go to the Boisdale at some point this Easter as he has seen some good reviews about jazz evening.
Few questions, has anyone been to the Boisdale Jazz? What are the rules with cigars (bring your own?).
Is there anywhere else which has a better jazz/cigar combo?

Also I am seeing the possibility for a possible Herf if we can arrange a time and place? Not sure if any of you guys love jazz too...

If you want a combination of music and jazz nowhere is better than Boisdale.

Remember that there are two Boisdales, one in Victoria and one in Canary Wharf. So check out the music schedule for each.

But wrap up warm, both have good heating but if the weather forecast for Easter is right both will be cold.

Cheers for the heads up, thought that there was only one in Canary Wharf!
Which is best? Do you know anything about the cigar rules or do you just buy when you get there?

Canary wharf is bigger so probably gets bigger music acts, Victoria is the original so is smaller. Food (and whisky) at both is very good.

Like most places they will expect you to buy their cigars but in many cases, especially if you have eaten a meal you can probably get away with smoking your own if you don't make it to obvious (ie no 30 count travel humidors on the table)

I know that at Victoria you can reserve a spot on the terrace if you are eating but as it's Easter and many people will be away it should be OK. But if you are eating there will be no issue, just make sure to tell them you want to smoke after you eat.

Sweet, to be honest my humidor is empty so gotta buy 1 anyway! Their list looks very appealing I must say.

Victoria is a bit closer so I guess we will go there. Sounds like it is more chilled out, like a meal with jazz in the background rather than concert style.. and then a Cuban after. Lovely.

Am guessing the whiskey is pretty expensive, hopefully Dad comes in to some oil

Boisdale isn't cheap, check the web site I think the menu is there, but the selection of Whisky is their trademark so you can enjoy something special with your steak/cigar/both.
I have had some wonderful evenings at Boisdale. It's a great spot but, I'll repeat again, take a thick coat if the weather doesn't seriously improve the terrace is going to be cold despite the lovely blankets and the heaters.

When I visited the UK for the inaugural London Puro Walk in the winter of 2009, one of my more memorable moments was an evening spent on the Boisdale terrace with senor brokenwing enjoying a fine puro...a Reyes, perhaps.

Do they both have the same sort of terrace? Victoria is still good right?
I'm not a big whiskey drinker so don't want to get something expensive that I won't appreciate! Only solution is to get through a lot before I go :P build up a palate! Book your tickets Tj and we can have a herf with nic!
