A bottle of good rum (Zacapa), a bottle of great rum (Plantation) and an entirely acceptable Illusione Epernay 2009 cigar from a once core member here.
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock!"
Hello young man! The Rum is the Plantation Extra Old Barbados Rum which is the 20th Anniversary Rum. I think this is the best value for money rum I have yet found. It is about ?40 a bottle and knocks the socks of the equivalent Ron Zacapa at ?140. Bold hints of coconut to it but not as overpoweringly sweet a Diplimatico. Only one place carries it I know of, The Whisky Exchange, in the back of Winopolis, near London Bridge Station. I just had a bottle reserved before I told you lot.
Illusione is a good cigar brand in general but I do like the Epernay a lot. Tons of smoke from such a narrow gauge cigar, not over strong, some good flavour but cannot say it is staggeringly complex, but that is not always a bad thing.

Value for money against the Zacapa you're not wrong but I find the 20th anniversary a little spicy for me .
Like a lot about the Nicaraguan 1998 in the Plantation series, well balanced sugar/spice mix, smooth & a huge afterburn....
Not found a bad one amongst them yet but they should be pretty good at that price level..
Just finished a Cohiba Robusto along with a Glen Garioch seemed to work very well.
Must try this match up again

Ps done a wee vid on the Glen Garioch a couple of weeks ago
It's in the Bar reviews
Had the first of my recent delivery of HdM Regalos with a large measure of Havana Club Anejo 7 yrs, plus one of my fave Ales; a Badger Golden Glory. The Ale was a better match, light, hoppy and floral... The Regalos was better than the singles I've had.
