    Late post, I know...sorry

Anyways, after a delightful mid-afternoon lunch (roasted, aged rib of beef, fried gnocchi and steamed spinach) I settled in nicely to a rather "bi-polar" Juan Lopez Petit Corona...

Build and appearance was great. After a successful cut, the pre-light draw was just on the tight-side of easy with a leather and wood taste. Lit well, and the first third was very enjoyable - a spicey, full-flavoured smoke, with an even burn and a solid ash.

Moving into the second third, I hoped that the creamy coffee undertones reported elsewhere would develop, however they didn't and an overly intense wood and leather taste came on strong as the cigar approached half-way - so strong in fact, that my newbie taste buds were overpowered...the final third wasn't terribly enjoyable.

Such a shame that what started to be a great smoke ended up as a stinky, peppery, heavily wooden, leather-ridden stick. I'll try another at some point, but not too quickly.

My one "ray-of-light" of the afternoon, was to crack open the bottle of Bacardi Gold I had picked up in Waitrose earlier that day - what a FANTASTIC rum to accompany a medium-strength cigar...vanilla and spice complemented the first third of the JLPC perfectly. Can't wait for another sunny afternoon to sit with a glass of this nectar
