Punch Gigantes, in the sun warmed garden, taking a well earned break from the Lathe, Mrs Fish has decreed that the we should go and fill ourselves with Italian food tonight, deep joy no cooking.

Just smoked a Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto, I've had a few now, the first from a pack of three which prompted me to order a box of 25.
They look inticing, nice smooth oily wrapper, non seem to have any large veins and most I've checked feel evenly rolled.
The draw seems a little inconsistent from one to the next but each one has always been an even burn, nice gentle start which hides a great increase in strength and taste/flavour with a wonderful hit in the final third - fantastic smoke.
Lots of flavours playing around in your mouth but never too overpowering, with another year in the humidor things can only get better!
Exploring the world - one smoke at a time.

Ever since reading recent comments about the Cohiba Maduros losing their mojo, I've been conducting experiments. I smoked the last of my Genious' this afternoon after having quite a few over the past few days along with some Magicos. They have definately got more mellow. I wouldn't say bland, the flavours are still there just a bit more deeper than when new. I wouldn't recommend smoking these after a spicy meal or smoking with a strong flavoured drink. They have become, in my opinion, very complex. The develpment is delightful, earthy coffee in the background (classic Cohiba) with deep dark red cherries into a meaty (almost gamey) undertone. Look deep I say, and ye will be rewarded.
            Need some more now!

Hmm just finished an Oliva V Torp, and I must say I wasn't blown away, sadly. It was very strong and lacked any refinement, I want to smoke new world sticks but am finding it harder each time I try. I have a Casa Magna, Work of Art and a Brick House to try, stay tuned.

Had a Reyes from the Aug-10 box I picked up recently. Went through a couple of less pleasant phases compared to the couple I'd tried previously (unknown age). First couple of draws were a little harsh but it settled down, only to become harsh again at about halfway, then settled down again after a few puffs... I'm still finding it hard to describe the flavours but it was nice, although less enjoyable than the Party shorts I had earlier in the week.

Interesting... I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts on the Brick House once you've had a chance to smoke it.

Nothing for me today, likely to enjoy something tomorrow afternoon though.

Simon, I'm torching the Brick House tonight, will post a review, I can tell you in advance its brick hard, very tightly packed, has a fabulous rich odour and is beautifully wrapped.
