  • Wednesday 2nd February .

Heavy rain here this morning. Working my way through a San Cristobal Principe which is proving a little bit tight on the draw TBH.

Smoked a lovely Upmann Mag 50 from 2008 last night, which was a great smoke when paired with some Glenmorangie.

i guess they won't use 2 years aged tobacco with the regular production tho?

I am considering a box of this EL.

Well had the Inmensas & it was amazing. After a good fry up brunch from the cafe I was ready for this. Only slight negative was for once Bosidale's Terrace was freezing, the wind which is usually minimal, due to the surrounding buildings was whipping around & was a bit of a drag & would have ruined lesser smokes.
However the cigar itself was faultless. The wrapper was dark, with a lovely oily sheen, which had me fondling it through my fingers as I rotated it to keep the burn even in the draught, used a cigar menu (this stick 19quid if brought on site) to shelter the stick as much as possible.
The flav was full on from the start & just got better as it burned down. Lots of complaints by some about Lonsdales & plugging but the draw was perfect the whole way down.
The after-taste, something that doesn't seem to get mentioned too often here but can make a big difference to ones enjoyment (particularlly a poor/bad aftertaste), was suberb & just kept going until I was on the train, sitting down, waiting for my piping hot lasange & bottle of claret.
This might not be an exciting looking cigar, no EL bands or glitz but I couldn't imagine getter better satisfaction from a Boli. I gave it a 92, on a different day, it a different place could have been a couple higher.
Only down side, I got this as part of a job lot & this stick was a single. Will be looking out for some of these in Havana

Wednesday was a very good cigar day for me. Only smoked the one though, a Partagas SPN2, in a last ditch attempt to avoid doing some work which was due on Thursday... (Still managed to finish the work though, so a win-win really).

I also hopped on the bus () to go out to the Royal Mail distribution centre and pick up a package I'd bought from CGars, taking advantage of two offers from Mitch - the 2 for a penny when bought with a box he offered us and 15% off accessories from his newsletter. Very pleased to see that my box of ERdM PCs were from mid-09, so have a bit of a head start. Love the smell of the Boli Corona Extra which I bought at the same time.
