I decided to attack my chest and cold symptoms with one of the Dawgs's RASCCs. My last one - and it will definitely be on my future purchases list.

I knew it. I knew a good cigar can cut through the sludge of flu, and it is doing! Cigars have cured me before! I'm enjoying the full taste and the beautiful smell over many cups of strong Assam on the sofa in a silent house.

My missus had a quiet go at me for smoking in the front room when she was off for four days last week at my in-laws. It gets in the fabrics.

Well every window is open and it'll be gone by the time she's home this evening.

Lordee! This is a beautiful punchy stick!

Yeh I don't blame her, they do bloody stink, and it's a hard job getting it rid.

Fortunately it's sunny and reasonably warm down here today with a slight zephyr. The stink is travelling to the neighbourhood through many openings.

But what a wondrous stink!

Many woofdah care-candles will obliterate just about all trace by her return from London.

What's more, it has STOPPED the cough.

It's a sure sign that it's over or at least on the way down when you can finally enjoy a fine puro.

Based on your recommendation, I will try the RASCC while vacationing in the wonderful Cabo San Lucas, MX. next week. I hope I can post from there and maybe even post a few pics.


This morning, amigos, I am enjoying a little number known as the - Trinidad Reyes . Full of that unique flavor that Trinidad is famous for and just the right size(petit corona) to compliment a cup o' joe or two.

Had my thoughts about catching a Trinidad Reyes, TJ you've consolidated it.

In terms of today: I had a few couples over for dinner last night and technically speaking, sparked some sticks up after twelve. Got through another Alec Bradley 'Spirit of Cuba", Habano Gold (both Robusto) and an RyJ No.2.

Gave my guests the opportunity to have a little taste, the girls joining in too. Everyone enjoyed themselves and one friend in particular says we'll meet up again purely for a herf. Great, especially as he says he'll bring the Martell!

What do you think of the R&J No.2? I find they make excellent starter puros for amigos just catching the habana fever, especially in tubes. Folks seem to like the tubes - especially the birds .

The RyJ No.2s I bought in Cuba in January have been a great smoke mate tbh. They were tubos by the way. I have worked my way through 8 out of the 10 without a hitch. They're mild(ish), but quite tasty senor and were my introduction to the pleasure of plural puros.

Yikes!!! Avatar still scary, but less so then the last one. I'm due for a new one of my fabulous bird - stay tuned!

I agree about the R&J No. 2. Nice easy smoke - good value.

My second choice of the day was the super fine Cohiba Robusto. A bit expensive, but worth the price - fourty twice (sorry about that mates, used an old yank expression).

For my final smoke of the day, I choose a lovely N/C from a micro mfgr. in San Antonio, Texas that I discovered while on a business trip there many year ago...


The mighty fine Latin Gold Robusto Cubano! A very pleasurable, spicy little number that offers a wonderful alternative to habana puros.

I've kept a box of these beauties in my humi ever since I discovered them.

Had a Bolivar Royal Corona on Sunday - one of the best Robustos I've had so far although I'm still loving the R&J Short Churchill.

If you like the Boliver RC, try the Ramon Allones Special Selected (RASS) sometime. Very similar for a few less pesos. Both are a very good value.

I actually had a RASS a couple of weeks ago. Thought it was cracking value and very well made; smart but very understated looking little chap. Taste wise I thought it was similar to the Partagas D4 (bear in mind I could be talking rubbish here) with lots of pepperiness - pretty powerful. Personally I found them both a bit too much for my tastes, although they are both undoubtedly excellent cigars.

Although you wouldn't say that the Royal Corona isn't strong, I felt it was smoother, more creamy, more relaxed. This suited me better as it was easier for me to pick out some of the other flavours in there (I'd say toast and almonds, myself).

It's all good, though.

The RASS is often compared to the D4. And I agree, the full body RC is a very smooth and somewhat creamy puro. A staple in my humidor.
