Plasencia Reserva Original Piramide - I haven't had many cigars you can blast a full retrohale right through the nostrils, all the way down the cigar and get smooth, pleasant flavours. But after almost 2 years in the humidor, that's what I got from this. With a good level of complexity and transitions throughout too. Perfect draw and burn. Full off those mild/medium nutty/woodsy flavours with a bit of coffee and sweet earth/peat thrown in too. Delicious right through.

Arturo Fuente Flor Fina 858 Maduro

This must have been a dud as it was bitter almost all the way through. When the ash fell off it left what I presume was a vein (looked like a twig)

With some time down I would bet that bitterness becomes a sweet flavour. I find all NC Maduros need some good time down to mellow out.

Of course it could still be a dud but if you have another save it until the summer and see. I know they claim NC's are all pre aged but I haven't had one that's been worse with a year of resting. I have however had a few which were pretty flat after a few years.

Patience is not one of my virtues unfortunately, but I am trying to buy two or more of the same stick so I can see how they develop. The other AF I got from the same source are likely a similar age, and the sun grown I had the other day was fairly nice. Although I haven't had many, I get the impression that AF produce consistent top quality sticks, which is why this one surprised me somewhat. I've not had a cigar taste like that AND have a large stem, so imagine there must me some correlation?

Big fan of Plasencia. Love the colour scheme on the bands and every one I've tried has had good flavours & superb construction. Need to try some more, including this Reserva Original line. They look like elegant wedding cigars imo

Yeah I'm a fan too. They would look good at a wedding. This one is probably second only to the Alma Fuerte from what I've tried of theirs so far. Although they're very different smokes.
