JLP Petit Caballeros for me today.

True to form I couldn't wait for the wind & rain to pass so I ventured out to the deck to fire up my new acquisition. Wonky burn (but that could be due to the wind) and not terrible but I've had better for a similar price so probably won't order again in a hurry, although am interested to see if it would smooth out a bit more with some down time. Mild cigar so not a huge amount to offer even if it did.

Exactly! Don't know if it was down to the cigar. But the taste of the cognacs were not as rich or pronounced as I expected. 100, 180 and 250£ as we went through the bottles! I think too delicate for a cigar pairing. Lost much of the aroma too I expect.

Yeah, probably not the best having a cigar with premium spirits, or any premium drinks really.
I'm not big on "pairing" as I find cigars mute most drinks. I do however like a drink and a cigar.
Negroni comes to mind, lose a lot of the bitterness. Tend to find Lemon/Lime/Yuzu cocktails stand up best out of all drinks, Gimlets, Margarita, Last Word.
Sparkling wine is good with a cigar but not if you want to taste the wine.

Honestly other than the smoothness we were saying we could not taste much of the Camus cognac. I find rums and whisky have much stronger flavours than what I tried last night. Which i do also like with a cigar.

I'm sure the French would deride us for smoking with such a fine cognac!

Chef De Cave from Champagne Henri Giraud would approve, always got a cigar on the go.
