Ramon Allones small club corona this afternoon. Slightly overfilled and firm. Needed a perfecdraw to fix it but mine is stuck with royal mail at present. Still, managed to smoke it. Pleasant smoke, picking up on some hay and Woody tones. Nice Creamy mouthfeel to it. Screenshot_20220202_184741.jpg

Lovely little cigar that.. and the perfecdraw is great I got one over Xmas and it really bloody works!!

That is one of the best short Cubans for me. You can use a toothpick or needle or pin to jab a few holes into the head and then fingers or pliers to pull out stems or knots, until the PD comes. Most issues are at the cigar top with overpacking.

Thanks for that tip. I was hoping that the draw would open once I got the past the first third but both the foot and the head were very firm to the touch and so it remained fairly tight throughout. How do you pull any offending stems or knots to the point where you can pull them out with fingers/pliers? Just keep digging around with the pin/needle?

It is easier with the PD as that pulls the problems to the surface, with a toothpick it is far harder unless the issue is near the surface, other options are to chop a half or then a full inch off the top and see how it smokes, or get a V cutter.

Stems you can often feel at the cut. They can be a bugger to pull out with teeth and nails! I posted this pic again recently, this came out of a Bolivar no.3 - very slender ring gauge! Fortunately a very rare occurrence for me.

Had one just before new year which was completely plugged.. went at it with the PD from both ends and it sorted it out nicely. A lot came out

Yes I saw your post and recall being both surprised at the lack of qc and impressed by the way you salvaged that cigar. I'm hoping I won't have to resort to that and that PD will arrive shortly - I'd be worried I'd end up butchering the cigar if I were to attempt that!

It does make me think to get hold of a pair of strong precision tweezers for pulling stems out. The PD has only ever pulled out shreds of tobacco dust for me. I've only used it a few times thankfully. Not sure whats a better fix - assuming its at all possible.
