After smoking the Epicure No. 2 for the past few nights, tonight I am enjoying a Robaina Clasicos from a box I recently purchase. I never smoked a Robaina before and find it a wonderful smoke right out of the the box, although a bit young (LPM ABR-08)
Tomorrow at lunch I will smoke a NC - A. Fuente God of Fire Carlitos 05. This is an excellent cigar which deserves a spot in my humidor next to my finest CCs.
I have a housefull and lastnight (thursday evening) we polished off my oldest humidor as i plan to restock it with imports lol, we had i mixture of Monte's Especiales no 2's and edmund's and the last of my donated Cohiba`s. Adivse never to mix them in one evening you have too many complex taste's running riot!! lesson learnt!!!
The GOF (God of Fire) is produced by A. Fuente. It is one of A. Fuente's top drawer cigars made on a limited basis once a year like the Opus OpusX. The cigars are made with the finest aged leaf and is further aged two years after being hand-rolled before being released in very limited quanties through select vendors. They are blended by two legends - Don Carlos Fuente, Sr. and Carlito Fuente. You may be familuar with the Don Carlos line which is very popular, especially in those countries where CC and not available. (hint-hint.)
I've had the good fortune to sample the Carlito Double Robusto 2005 and 2006, released in 2007 and 2008, respectively.
As far as a review goes, I'm not very good at detecting leather, earth, hints of spice or pencil lead. But I can assure you that this is an excellent cigar which, IMHO, revials some of the best CCs. I have a box of 05 that I proudly store in my humidor next to a box of Cohiba Sublimes EL 04. Just today I enjoyed a 06 at lunch and took it to the nub.
If you google "God of Fire" you can see pictures of these beauties and learn more about the cigars.
Yes, they are a bit expensive, but like the finest CCs, they are worth it if you can afford these unique cigar for those special times when only the best will do.
Word to the wise - This cigar should be smoked in solitude to maximize the enjoyment
