    My thoughts on the "Herf"....

I do apologise, I seem to be on a bit of a posting frenzy this evening!

(must be the effects of the bourbon and Cohiba I guess!)

Anyway, here's my thought's on the other evening.

I couldn't make the walk earlier; I was working unfortunately, but then again, I visit most of the "stops" every week as it is for my supplies!

First of all, Many thanks and congratulations to Dean et al for organising this; it was very enjoyable and a great success.

I think we should do this kind of thing regularly for sure!

(that hotel in Soho looks great! and I know that whatever Ajay has planned will be unmissable; his lounge is amazing and beautiful!)

It was just a shame that, as is often the case, it wasn't possible to chat to everyone! still hopefully there'll be many more occasions!

The people I did meet and chat to were, as is to be expected with BOTL, great! and it was a real pleasure.

The only negative (apart from the rain I suppose!) for me was the buffet; I reckon we could do better next time - even at the modest price we paid, it was a touch disappointing I thought (put together with an real "give 'em the mimimum we can get away with" mentality! it was OK, but....)

Smokes-wise, I managed to get through a HDM Epi 2, Monte Edmundo, VR Famosos, Boli Belicosos Finos and the lovely gift of a RyJ Short from COH (Many thanks again for that!)

Thanks too to Ajay for the San Cristobal.... didn't smoke that on saturday, but will enjoy later!

Great to meet Simon as well, he was delightful and is a legend!

    I'll go now........

I, for one, wouldn't mind paying a bit more in future for something with a bit more class!

Should have taken up Dale's Idea of 30 rounds of fish, Chips & jellied eels !!!!
?I have to laugh when I think of the first cigar, because it was probably just a bunch of rolled up tobacco leaves?

On the day of the herf I enjoyed an El Rey Del Mundo Demi Tasse and Davidoff something-or-other (it was very small, but beautifully constructed). Then I smoked a Dunhill Petit Corona, which was passable. And at Doggetts I endured half of a Monte Open Regata...

As MUCH as half, don't you mean?
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock!"

That would be the more accurate turn of phrase...
