Just about to set off down to Holyhead to catch a ferry, so im going to smoke a La flor de cano courtersy of Andy(ACMCC), this should make the drive a bit more bearable.
Unfortunately 2 out of the 5 I bought from cigarone has issues.. Prob just one of those things, lovely sticks tho and I'd still consider getting a box sometime. They age well aparently..
Deano what did you think overall? I'd like to try the Boli EL and see how that compares..
I thought it was good. Not going to displace a D4 or a HdM 2, but a fine 'gar none the less.
A wonderful Partagas P2 tubo sent to me by the very nice owner of the UK Cigar Forums.
A beautiful podgy, tasty fat bastard of a cigar with a taste I can only describe - in musical terms - as in the bass clef. A stonking and powerful big bloke of a cigar.
I've laid off the cigars for nearly two weeks. I lost the taste for them. Inexplicable.
I also had to wean myself off all-day-long smoke-outs during my long break as I had to go back to the babysitting. I needed to withdraw from the Havanas - and I did.
This P2, then, had to be for a celebration. I met up with some very good musos - recommended by friends of friends - and it looks as if we are compatible. We have similar musical tastes. Everybody is an experienced player and performer. We are all pissed off with the same stupid things about frequent gigging. We want to try something else.
I'll keep updating - but this cigar topped off a very good meet-up and was consumed in the garden sunshine with one of my lads, my wife and my pooch.
Thank you, Deano.
PS It has a bloody sexy mutha black and red tube, too. I'll be carrying that around in my side pocket for yonks!
frequent gigs always get my goat too, once every month is plenty imho, rehearsing is for wimps too!
I just finished a marvelous RA gigantes, 2 hours of honey on wholemeal toast
just had about two thirds of a rather bland RyJ mille fleur! not my favourite cigar, but i've about 7 left to smoke to make room in my humidor for some new cigars! i find these not as enjoyable as the RyJ no. 2's! they're similar in taste, except i find the mille fleur a bit harsh! hopefully they'll mellow out, don't want to end up giving them away! anyway, guess i'll finish it off in the morning, after work, with a nice coffee (i hate leaving cigars)!
anyway, reckon i'll hit puro this week for some HDM epicure no. 2's or partagas PSD4's!
...I'm not too good with attributing 'tastes' to be honest. I try, but I struggle, I know TJ does too, so I'm glad it's not just me.
I'm with you there as well Deano - i struggle to pick out a lot of the finer tastes - i can tell the cigar is changing and developing, and i can tell the obvious tastes i.e Chocolate, pepper etc, but i struggle with others. Will come with age me thinks... dunno what your excuse is!
So now chilling in the warm sunshine with a very cold bottle of beer and just sparked up one of my new R&J Dukes EL2009...
Bloody good cigar, and will only get better as they grow old...
Agree 100%!!!
Also for me - Partagas Serie D No.4 starting around 10 by candlelight in the back garden with a few glasses of Warres port. Trying to make the most of what we have left of summer - got a touch cold by the time i retreated inside.
JL2 in the pub tonight. Punched again. Absolutely beautiful! Out of the 10 I bought from a box split, this was number 8 and it was the first one I really enjoyed.
I don't know whether this recent improvement in many of my smokes is due to the fan in my coolbox or simply because they've had some rest now, but it seems too much of a coincidence that they've all suddenly become spectacular through rest at the same time. Buy a fan folks.
