EL REY DEL MUNDO
Beautiful outdoor smoking weather in SE Kent. Blue sky. High clouds. A breeze, but not an off-putting one.
I've had about six days off smoking because of staying with non-smoking family. I was glad to be back at my hidden smoking spot on my own to enjoy my first El Rey del Mundo.
All I have on the agenda today is to tidy up the house (zzzzz) in preparation for the delivery of our new rescue labrador tomorrow so sat and prayed that he will be as affectionate and well-behaved as our beautiful Max who passed away some four months ago.
So this smoke was a smoke to think about dogs, and how I will have a new me-trailing friend who shares my quiet moments of peaceful reflection from tomorrow lunchtime.
The Smoke.
Whenever it is possible, I love smoking in the morning on an empty stomach. I've never found a cigar over-powering in these conditions despite what guidebooks can tell you.
This was my first ever El Rey del Mundo. My tastebuds tell me I will explore this make further.
I think this was a double corona. (Craig - Please advise if I am wrong). It was a 40 something guage.
CONSISTENCY of draw, ash, burn, taste.
I'd say this is a medium to strong smoke. It was very sweet when exhaling occasionally through the nose. The taste was a bit like some NCs I have smoked before. The burn was quicker than with some Havanas I know well.
I sensed a nutty, caramel-y flavour which, as I said, stayed for the duration of the cigar. It was robust in the sense that I don't think I will need to eat anything for a few hours, and I adore that in a smoke.
In short, a rich and very satisfying smoke with a splendid after-taste.
I don't think it will be long before I sample the second one you sent me, Craig. A very inviting flavour and it gave off thick smoke which I loved to see float off around corners over the garden wall and towards my house.
Try one!
Many, many thanks, Whisk.
I am a man at peace with the world who must now start tidying up his house and garden.
