As the sun is trying to make an appearance I've ventured out to the shed with a Cain Daytona that I got in a sampler pack.

I decided to try the Montesino #1 today. The foot had a distinct barnyard whiff which surprised me for a Fuente as they're usually sold ready to go. The cigar had a rich distinctive flavour and burned very well but the wrapper was a little fragile at the cap end. It will be interesting to see what these are like next summer.

So tonight i was reading about people who wet their cigar before smoking. Intrigued i decided to give it a go on a cheap stick as a test.

I took one of my very reliable bundle sticks and gave it a quick rinse under the tap cap up to avoid the foot. Gave it 5 minutes to drip dry and lit it up.

It dried out quite quickly and to start with the burn was good. Unfortunately after 10 minutes the wrapper started to crack and after 30 it looked like one of those cartoon exploded cigars. The taste seemed worse than usual.. and i know these sticks very well. It also coned quite badly.

End result... Some people are idiots and some people are even more stupid for listening to them. Do not try. Not recommended!

Well this brightened up an otherwise miserable day for me. Thanks for the laugh!

Nothing wrong with running your cigar under the tap, I use the method when the cigar could require it, an old delicate wrapper, a young fresh cigar or a few of the "cheapies" can all benefit.

I saw recently on FB someone dipped it on the glass of water and said it didn't effect the cigar at all...he was supposed to smoke the same one normally a few days later will have to ask him if there was any difference.

But what I don't get, is why would you want to wet your cigar in the first place anyway??
