Finally well enough for a small smoke today and decided to go with a Short Story maduro gifted by a friend in the States. I've no idea how old it was but the cello was nicely yellowed. I'm not a big fan of these but overall it had a pleasant maduro sweetness but got a little bitter into the final inch.

Tried a Liga Dirty Rat. Awful cigar, if you enjoy mixing black pepper with a pile of dirt and then eating it you should buy some..

I've never had a dirty rat but was thoroughly unimpressed with the L40 I tried once. Was expecting something really special and it was far from it.

I had the L40, found it OK. Nothing really special but not offensive.

Starting the evening in 1a with an ERDM Choix Supr?me. A first for me - pleasant smoke but needed touching up a couple of times.

And on to JJ Foxes to celebrate slightly early St Patrick day, with an Upmann Anejados Robusto from 2011 with to start a glass or two of Green Spot whiskey followed the Yellow Spot. Beautiful cigar and of the two, the Green Spot was my favourite.

And our entertainment for the evening

How was the event? Is it just a one cigar they give you? I really enjoyed the umpanns Anejados....just so glad they got this line out...was something the umpanns Marca was missing.

I have to say the spot whiskys are really nice... something different compared to a scotch....the green spot in my whisky calendar was a great success and most purchased from my clients.

Hope you had fun...sorry i bailed last minute.

Hi Shamir. Yes it was 1 cigar however they were more liberal with the whiskey and I had sufficient! It was a good evening and I would certainly do it again although it would have been more enjoyable had I known any of the other guests - it was obvious that many were regulars.

An unusual post from me but went to CASC last night & arrived to meet Wigan, who had promised a surprise. Unfortunately I arrived after the cigars were finished (it was turning Baltic outside by then anyway) & was bowled over when the surprise turned out to be a mystery guest; turned out to be SeriesSteve. Haven't met since the 3 Crowns Herf so it was a wonderful evening, remembering cigars we had shared going back to 2006! He's the chap that got me into aged & vintage Havana's & so has a lot to answer for! Many thanks for the surprise Wig, looking fwd to sharing a cigar with you both in May.
