First Allones SS I have had in years, from an 08 box as well and an absolutely superb smoke, washed down with some Magners , vodka and raspberry.

Weird combination I know, but it hit the mark.

I feel like I've let the side down... I got a letter this morning telling me that I had passed the Open University course I was doing in my spare time ( ), plus we'd found out that my sister's hamster was fine (I'd been worried about her - the hamster that is )... So tonight, with a nice day and evening in the offing, I should have been in the garden with a robusto celebrating... Sorry guys, I never got around to it.

              Congrats!

Continuing what appears brand (marca?) of the day, I had a Hoyo Petit Robusto in the pub at lunchtime with a glass of Maker's Mark. Gorgeous! After arriving at the annual work barbecue and numerous cans of warm lager, I took out my designated booze stick, an FdC Preferidos. I've just arrived home and fancied another so I'm outside now on the same with a Bombay and Schweppes tonic. I've just noticed that they don't need cutting-the end on this one is formed so that there is a hole for smoke to escape. I don't know if they're all like this, but this certainly helps in its 'pub cigar' role.

                Yes, Congratulations Simon...

What were you studying? If you don't mind me asking...

                Cheers, HabanoSy

My congrats also Simon. In my misspent life I have done an OU degree plus two other "normal" (full time) degrees. The OU one was the bloody hardest! No easy thing working full time and studying. And the teaching and courses were excellent too.

Thank you all. I'll doubtless have a stick tomorrow night at a colleagues birthday party, do a double/triple celebration.

Agree entirely Big Al. I did the first year at a 'normal' university upon leaving the RN - got so bored (averaged over 95% on all completed work), that I went skiing during the exams period. I still passed the first year, but told them where to stuff the rest of it...

As for now... the course I've just completed was the Introduction to the Social Sciences. Just edged over 70% - not helped with work pressures before and after Christmas. Like you say Big Al, it can be quite difficult to get everything in.

I was going to use it towards an International Studies degree, but am now doing International Relations at a 'normal' uni. Will be continuing with OU - just got to decide whether Modern Languages or an LLB would be of more use in the Civil/Diplomatic Service (my 'fall back' if I cannot return to the RN).

I started with a bandless stick that I bought from a chap on another forum. I think it was a HdM fo some variety...anyway, wasn't too impressed so gave up after 10 mins and sparked the old reliable SP2...magic

                          Partagas Friday

Had a fantastic and splendid Party Charlotte tonight and chased it down with a few Staropramen and an SD#4, my friends enjoyed a Conn#1 and a Boli RC. The local beer gardens where packed tonight, smoked 'em out though, the Thatch and Birdcage, good when quiet, but full of the Marloboro crowd when the sun shows his face
