2003 RyJ Tr?s Petit Corona. RyJ is a marca that I am not particularly fond of but this cigar exceeded my expectations. A creamy pre lunch smoke with hints of vanilla. Turned a little bitter in the last third.

Shoot day today. I was not shooting. My daughter was carrying the gun today on her first formal pheasant shoot and I was supervising her.
I had myself a lovely BBF while enjoying the first couple of drives and watching Beth miss a couple of very sporting birds.
The third drive of the day gave me one of those moments that will stay with me forever. A hen bird flashed over us approximately 40 yards high and very fast.
Beth swung the gun through and folded it up first barrel. It was a cracking shot that even brought cheers and hollers from the experienced guns on the syndicate.
I was one very proud dad.
When we got home I decided to sit in the garden with a bottle of Mcewans Whisky Edition and a large Rusty Nail. Buzzing.

Alas no pheasant day for me today, but afternoon on the clays - still a lot of fun! Enjoying this Bolivar Britanicas 2011 UK RE...
These were very sweet when young, but that has now subsided and this stick has a lovely full bodied profile, much more as a Bolivar should be. A good day!

PS Johnny Thunder : top shooting! You must be very proud! Nothing like the buzz of bagging your first pheasant!

I've had a few of them in 2016 and they were all stellar smokes (I sourced them all in Germany and still have around 20 left). The one I smoked today was gifted to me from a friend in the US and I don't know where he sourced it from. Construction was perfect and the wrapper beautiful, it started out very nice but quickly turned into a rather bland smoke which tasted mostly of ash (a pretty weird taste). I hope that this one was a dud and will soon try one from my box to see if it will smoke better.Only the impossible is worth the effort.
