So its back to the La Palinas with number 4. This one is a maduro torpedo and I was looking forward to revisiting the flavours of number 1, the best so far. Straight out of the cello I knew this was going to be different. The wrapper smelt rich and peppery. I wasn't wrong, it was peppery from the outset and after a quarter inch it looked to be heading for the bin but then it settled down somewhat. The burn was good, the ash dark and flakey but the smoke was tannic with a flavour like unsweetened black coffee. I smoked it for about half an hour and then went with my initial impression and binned it.
