Starting vintage Friday off with a 197Os John Knight Royal Jamaica, thanks to Simon Bolivar. More info here:

    Jon Knight Royal Jamaican's 1970's

Depending on when in the 7o's this cigar was made it might be older than me!

Hmmm, feeling inspired might have to join you after lunch.

I probably smoke 5 or so NC's a year. After having a very hot green chili for lunch I decided to smoke a Maduro. I had a Party Maduro No.1 a few weeks ago, so I decided to go for a Drew Estate Liga Privada No.9 Corona Doble which I have had for a few years now. Having some lemonade with it whilst enjoying an old Western on TCM.

Should have gone with something else. Didn't finish it.....

....at least the lemonade was good.

Of course the proof of the smoking is in the photo, not bad ash for a seventies stick.

I can't figure out how to add images from my phone.
But I just smoked one of these

Am I right in thinking it's a Robusta?

Anyway I didn't like it's all. It was to fat for my mouth. There was a crack in the cap that I didn't notice until I got.home, when I cut it the wrapper started to unreal near the shoulder. It started to unreal half way down too. Also I noticed it had metallic green blemishes on it that I also didn't notice in the shop.

Not a pleasant experience at all.

I have a Trinidad Reyes that I will smoke tonight, a much thinner RG and I'm hoping will be more like the Upmann Coronas Junior that I enjoyed on Tuesday.

The green blemishes are usually water stains. You should take it back and ask for a replacement based on your description of its overall condition.

Shame about the experience. Others will know better than me if the unreeling you describe can be fixed if encountered again. Meanwhile, I think this is a 'short gordo' (a less common vitola) and not the far more common (and manageable) robusto.

Looking at the ad, it seems to be a rare example of a cigar whose name is longer than it is itself!

To late for that PeeJay, can I use PJ?

It's lit and smoked and the remains are in the compost bin now.

I will be sure to check better next time though.
Or I may just order online.

                        Grumpy

Aye, well you live and learn don't ya. No harm done.
Defo wasn't keen on the ring gauge though. 52 is too bug for me.

Vintage Friday with a Punch Royal Selection No 12 from '03. Unfortunately is was plugged so tight I ended up binning it. My luck the one day I needed my PerfecDraw I leave it at home!

Inca Secret Blend Reserva D'Oro Robusto, good draw and plenty of smoke. Pleasant but not packed with flavour.
