Round 1 for today is an LFD La Nox. It gives me a good hour and half to ponder on what Round 2 will be... and to let the beer chill. I hate weekends when the missus goes away.....!
I have just had an epicure Especial and a Trinidad Reyes both of which were awful! Neither would stay lit, and as a result they turned very bitter ... stored at 69 RH ... may have to employ some dry boxing for a few days before smoking to see if this helps...!!
69 seems a bit on the high side to me, I prefer Cubans at around 65 as I find they burn and taste better.
Right i may look into changing this then... i thought the higher RH would be safer for long term? With all my sticks being in the one coolidor; some of them will be stewing for a few years...
I did the same as Budgie. I changed down from 69 to 65%.
Did you find the smokes at 69 RH cocked up your burns too? I used 69 in the humidor but i think because the coolidor is airtight its a true 69... Killed me seeing those smokes turned to bitter squibs!

Yes, I think they smoke better at a lower RH. Not everyone is of that opinion though.
It is a personal choice.

Well I dry boxed (59 RH) a petit edmundo from my stash for 24hours, and I have just smoked it - what a painless, flavoursome delight that was! As a result I have just switched the 69 Boveda packs in the coolidor to the 65 RH one's; I need no further confirmation that this is the right thing to do!
