Merry Christmas to all our members & your families! Hope the family lets most of you enjoy a some at some point today or tomorrow. Up at 06:00 today, as Shell have decided after 25yrs of not turning to on Christmas Day, this just can't be sustained any longer. The oil & gas are flowing, I will see any patients but sending us out to pick up rubbish this morning, petty, petty, petty.
Anyway caught the dawn, found a weird fish (Lumpsucker) & came in to have the first smoke of the day. ERDM DT but a rather special one from 1990. Think Martyn is the only other one of us to have had boxes of these in the past but this was the last of mine. The label is dark with oil stains, the flav are stronger & more more wonderful than post 2000 productions. Nice start though & now something else to look fwd too after luncheon, having an old Esplen.
ERDM Coffee club or something like that... forgotten a bit what these were but I remember they were quite old.
A small smoke, I'm sure ill be back later with a big cigar

It's a Lunch Club James, another discontinued line.

After dinner smokes with the OIM. Hope you all had a great day, mine was topped off with being in the winning quiz team & finally getting through to my family although we failed to get Skype working.
A PL Robustos de Laranaga 07 for me today. First moment I've had to myself today after cooking goose and beef for 11 guests.
First smoked one of these early summer and was worried that this second one wouldn't live up to expectations. My fears were unfounded - a lovely mellow stick, full of nutty, milk chocolate tones and lots of creamy smoke.
Simon Bolivar I imagine there's a good sense of camaraderie on the rig, with everyone being away from loved ones for a length of time, especially at Christmas. A question, if I may. What do patients typically come to you for? Is it illness or injury on duty or both?
Merry Christmas all...I see some lovely smokes today... Simon lovely photo.
Been up since 6...With baby duties and getting Xmas lunch sorted for 12 people today....Managed to have 30min break with my brother in-law after lunch to enjoy a SCDLH El Principe 08.
Indeed Horsebox, a pretty good time was had by all. We all accept we have to do our turn offshore at Christmas, it's just when you do several yrs in a row it gets annoying & disappointing for the families. My patients are mainly minor illness & infrequent minor injuries. The improvements in safety have reduced the trauma side of our jobs to a rare event. Which is good, unless you like to maintain your skills!
PL AP a great regional, good choice.

Well they clearly called that fish a lumpsucker for a reason, it has a disposition for radio, not TV. I take it from your post that anyone aboard a rig in the past could at least expect a quieter day on Christmas? But not so this year. And litter picking? Lame.
Anyhow, at least you got a small but interesting stick.

Glad you managed a break to enjoy your principe Shamz84, looks really sunny there. Glad you like the pic too, the fun has continued today & after an evening's hard gambling I came out ?25 on top of the camel races, just even for a decent cigar
