Since lots of others are doing the Party SP2 today, thought I'd join in over lunch. Had a 2006 one, dark and moody - strong, and interestingly, mustn't hurry these or they bite
My first cigar of the day was a Cigar.com Cuban label Churchill. First one of this label. Not at all bad either. And it did replicate some aspects of "cuban" flavour. Stronger as it went down and smoked it to the nub. Not brilliant but certainly ok.
It was one of a sampler pack I got from them a couple of weeks ago. Of their "own label" cigars I have tried:
Brazilian label: very nice smoke, peppery - a lot a flavour. Robusto
Red label: as above but less potent - still an enjoyable smoke. Robusto
Purple label: much too mild for me - felt like nothing very much. Robusto
Corojo label: started well but taste turned a little bitter - not my cup of tea. Robusto
Cameroon label. Nah, didn't like this one. Nutty flavour but not to my taste. Robusto
Blue label: not a bad smoke at all. A little bland but still had taste - "reminiscent" of cuban flavour but overall mild. Torpedo.
Plus Cuban label as above.
The test is whether I would reorder any of them. Yes, I would. Cuban, Red, Brazilian and maybe (less sure) Blue. Forget the rest.
Just going to have some dinner and then Im going to open a bottle of red wine and then light up a San Cristobal El Morro. IMO an underrated cigar that smokes well and has a very warm, inviting aroma with flavours of coffee, chocolate, nuts, and caramel.
