If the P2's I've had are anything to go by Deano, you're gonna love 'em...

One of my mates is getting married next weekend down in the New Forest so today has been taken up with the rehearsal for that (what the fucks that all about...!!!), so I've not long been back.

In an effort to wind down im going to open a bottle of red wine and fire up a HdM Piramide LE03 - hopefully that should do the trick...

            Cheers, HabanoSy

              A Perfect World!

Started the day at sunrise with the lovely Trinidad Reyes. Needed more so I dug around in my cavanous humidor and came with the a San Cristobal la de Habano Principe. Not a bad start to a glorious Sunday.

This afternoon is sparked up the very rare (only 624 boxes procuded) and lovely Juan Lopez Topedo Caribe Exclusivo 2008.

That's it boyz, I ready to go now...

Names TJ, TJCoro, and I'm smokin' some mighty fine puros today!

can I take my balls with me?

I have only smoked two today. The first was a Vasco Da Gama cheapo (but I still like 'em) corona and the second...well, that's another story.

                Ok, so here's the story:

While perusing the CubanCrafters website a few weeks ago I found myself looking at the "CloseOut Deals". Now I like Maduro cigars and here was a bunch (25) of cigars advertised as Maduro going for a song. So I bought them. Bad mistake.

I got my cigars without any problems. Service was certainly quick enough. But they were as dry as Death Valley bones. Of course I should have sent them back. But I didn't. Bung 'em in the humidor (I have two - small 70 and a bigger and new 400 not in use yet) thought I and in a couple of weeks they'll be as right as rain. They were Torpedos and I also chopped off the cap end so that the humidity could percolate from both ends.

I had made the mistake of trying one when received just to see. Hard as rock and 'orrible. Most of it went in the bin.

But today I tried my first "doctored" cigar. Two rammings with Tabak Pietsch's excellent Drawpoker (thanks Phillip!) saw me actually able to light the thing with ease. And it was smokable! Not great but I finished it. Another 23 for this treatment now.

The moral of the story? Don't buy unbranded CloseOuts! I'll not make that mistake again.

Might be that several months, rather than weeks are required ?

Well, most of them will get that. I just wanted to try the principle of saving them. At least I know now that I will get most of them back into the land of the living.

Around 1.30pm I smoked a Rafael Gonzales Panatela Extras. Nice and ok, not expecting much. Then watched the Ashes for a little while down the pub with the missus and then had a RASCC around 3pm before going back to watch the rest of the Open Golf.

                            A nice little day indeed.

A 2005 release RyJ PP last night, great smoke when you're just having the one, they just get better every year. Still one of my fave EL's along with the Monte C and my stocks of both are dwindling

                                Senor Big Al,

Nothing wrong with buying "close outs" as long as you are familiar with the cigar. I've had the good fortune over the years to pick up a few NC diamonds in the ruff for very few pesos.

But this doesn't happen too often and I wouldn't do it with lesser know or unknow stogies or brands.
